This summer Yashih worked at a non-profit in Shanghai, China, called JUCCCE (Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy).  Its mission is to change the way China creates and uses energy within the next 10 years by targeting key decision makers in each of the main areas of energy use.  Its main programs include: 1) training the mayors of China on how to develop eco-friendly cities, 2) accelerating the deployment of Smart Grid solutions in China, and 3) using carbon credits to purchase and distribute 10 million CFL light bulbs to students in exchange for old incandescents, resulting in an offset of three million tons of CO2.  Yashih believes one positive thing about a centrist government is that there are fewer levers to push to make change.

Yashih's role as Partnership Manager was to help JUCCCE develop its marketing and sales strategy, particularly for corporate partnerships, which are the main source of funding for JUCCCE's programs.  As such, she got to meet with executives from MNCs and local companies operating in China, as well as Chinese and U.S. government officials interested in working with JUCCCE. 

This was her first time working in China, in clean energy, in non-profit, and in an entrepreneurial environment, so she found the experience incredibly stimulating.
