About eighteen months ago I fell in love. It wasn't love at first sight: on the contrary it followed a long and tumultuous courtship, and I entered into it with a healthy dose of British cynicism. I wasn't expecting to fall for HBS. I hadn't even really intended to do an MBA. (0) comments

In counterpoint to my other, uncharacteristically sentimental, article looking back on my time at HBS, I feel the need to lighten the atmosphere by taking a slightly tongue-in-cheek look at all the things about HBS that right now look infinitely preferable to the big, cold, scary world out there. FRIENDS, FAMILY, DISTINGUISHED GUESTS, WELCOME. As a former teacher, I learned that graduation is not an individual accomplishment, but rather the fruit of many sacrifices. I believe I speak for us all when I say thank you for not only coming today but giving us the opportunity to be here. (4) comments

The pamphlet's advice rang in my head as I eyed the great beast… Months earlier, when local efforts to revitalize the wild turkey population had brought sightings of a feathery resident to campus, I had been confident that the school would take the same swift corrective action they reserve for a misplaced Autumn leaf or slightly bent blade of grass…and they soon did.
