The afternoon of April 15th saw Hamilton Lounge abuzz with a peculiar group of people: Did the Executive Education program organize a mixer? (Yes it did, but this wasn't it.) The Class Day Committee is pleased to announce the 2008 Faculty Award Winners. Determined through a vote of the entire EC class, the Faculty Awards recipients are those professors who have most impacted student experiences at HBS. The criteria for the awards include a professor's ability to inspire students, make difficult course material accessible, offer career guidance, and improve the quality of life on our HBS campus. On March 19th, the Automotive and Transportation Club and the Turnaround Club hosted two of the most distinguished speakers that have set foot on campus this year: Rick Wagoner, CEO and Chairman of General Motors (HBS '77), and John Smith, Group Vice President of Global Product Planning (HBS '76). On Saturday April 12, 2008 the club Latino Americano of HBS hosted its X Latin American Conference with great success. More than 750 people were present, making it the largest Latin American conference in the history of HBS. The event looks to inspire the students, professors and professionals to reflect and act on the opportunities, dynamics and fundamental business challenges of Latin America, as well as reposition Latin America as an area of interest in the discussion circles of professional and academic communities. On March 2nd 2008, the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government jointly presented the 9th annual Social Enterprise Conference sponsored by the Boston Consulting Group, Mckinsey & Co., the Omidyar Network and Coca-Cola. This summer, most of us will be drinking the Kool-Aid once again after one year of drinking out of eco-friendly Nalgenes. For those of us trying to live environmentally friendly existences, staying Green in an office setting can present a real challenge.
