Three Experts on Islamic Finance - Samuel L. Hayes III (HBS, '61), Ibrahim Ward, and Aamir A. Rehman (HBS, '04) - spoke to over 70 academics and professionals at Aldrich to introduce the fundamental principles, historical background, industry overview and implications of Islamic finance. The event was sponsored by the HBS Islamic Society, the HBS Finance Club, and the Islamic Finance Project of Islamic Legal Studies Program at Harvard Law School. (1) comment
For many people the Harbus is about hard hitting news, insightful opinion and rib-cracking humor. But for some people, the Harbus is a lot more. This week the Harbus News donated $70,000 to the Harbus Foundation. Rarely does an HBS grad get the chance to really 'make a difference' before even taking hold of her degree. But that is exactly what happened in 2005 when five HBS students returned from the India Treck and created the India School Fund (ISF). Two months later, section mates joined the effort and raised $35,000 to build the first education center in Rajugella village, Uttar Pradesh (UP). More importantly, the growing relevance of sports is bringing to life non-traditional job opportunities in the field. The 3rd Annual Spring Sports Symposium, hosted by the HBS Business of Sports Club on April 4, 2007, featured a comprehensive discussion on both digital media and non-traditional career opportunities in sports.
