Fall Draws to a Close as Final Exams, Term Papers Loom

Mother Nature has been kind to Boston this fall, with temperatures consistently holding their ground. But as the trees shed their leaves, winter looms not so far off into the distance. Winter officially starts on November 21. So bundle up and keep your fingers crossed for a mild winter season.

Retreats Remembered for Time Spent with Classmates, Hot Tubs

Much of the RC population escaped campus this past weekend to take advantage of a long-standing HBS tradition - section retreats.  And for many ECs, section retreats stand out as defining moments in their first-year section experience (especially those that included hot tubs).

HBS Students Get Involved in U.S. - Russia and U.S. - Ukraine Investment Symposia

U.S., Russian, and Ukrainian Governments, EBRD, IFC, World Bank, and private investors (representing over $2 Trillion in total assets) gathered for 3-day Summit on Russian and Ukrainian Investment Opportunities. The 9th Annual US-Russian Investment Symposium took place on November 1st and 2nd at the Seaport-World Trade Center.

Under the theme of "The Biggest Opportunity in the World", a lineup of top-level speakers visited HBS this past Wednesday for the annual Energy Symposium. The event was hosted by the HBS Energy Club, and from the record turnout and record number of speakers it was clear that interest in the subject matter has climbed in lockstep with the increasing price of oil.

Equipped with the disarming candor that has earned her the distinction of "Cruz Missile" among contemporaries, Morgan Stanley's Acting President, Zoe Cruz (MBA '82), had several pieces of wisdom to share with those contemplating their own forays into financial services as recruiting season officially kicks off.

Picture this. You stroll into Aldrich 8 on a Monday afternoon and squeeze yourself into a seat along with more than 100 other students who have crammed themselves into every square inch of space in the classroom. You settle in, lean back and relax, grateful that classes are over, and then......you get cold called, by an FBI agent no less.

Organization: Denver Mayor's Office Location: Denver, Colorado The convergence of the private, public, and nonprofit sectors is a hot topic in today's world of social enterprise as a means to begin solving complicated social and business problems. I had the opportunity to see this trend first-hand this past summer during my internship as a Social Enterprise Fellow in the Denver Mayor's Office.

Last weekend saw the one and only Section I venture out into the lovely surrounds of Mt. Snow in Vermont. Away from campus, the busy-ness of the week past was soon forgotten as action picked up with a dance party of the bus. Sectionmates and their partners (108 in total) gathered in the evening to enjoy the "very unique" pizzas, drinks and music (courtesy Nolan "DJ Jazzy Jeff" Townsend).
