Picture this: 1,100 RC and 350 EC students in a ballroom, having consumed a total of 500 bottles of wine, staring expectantly at the stage where Alex Michael "two first names, one vision" (NH), and Vikram Sharma (NE) were standing mike in hand. Alex is the quintessential New York party boy; sharp, flamboyant, and often seen dancing with one pant leg rolled up.

This past Saturday, December 4th, Mr. Adebayo O. Ogunlesi (HLS/HBS '79), was honored by the Harvard African Students' Alumni Network (HASAN) as the first recipient of the HASAN Achievement Award for "consistent and superior performance in his professional career.

If you hate the Academy Awards, then you probably don't want to read this column. True, when I say column, I do realize that I am using the term quite loosely (this would be exactly my second 'column' of the semester). That aside, I have also come to realize that as life gets more and more hectic, the people who you can rely on become all the more important.

On Wednesday, December 8, the students in the EC course Managing in the Information Age (MIA) threw a surprise farewell party for their instructor, Professor F. Warren McFarlan, the creator of the newest course on campus (MIA in its present form) and one of the most senior and distinguished faculty members at HBS.

Dr. Alex "Sandy" Pentland of MIT's Media Lab came to HBS on December 2 to talk about ways in which he and other technological innovators are applying their knowledge to help those in developing countries. The talk was sponsored by the International Business and Development Club as well as the Entrepreneurship Club.
