Killefer Tells HBS Students how to Hobnob with the Brass

The best way to build relationships with senior executives is to start at the bottom, according to McKinsey Senior Director Nancy Killefer. Killefer, who heads McKinsey's Consumer and Retail practice, spoke to students, on February 24, about developing high level business relationships.

On March 3rd, the Institute of Politics at the Kennedy School of Government hosted a talk "The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara", based on the 2004 Academy Award-winning documentary film by Errol Morris. Robert McNamara himself was present at this talk.

The Fifth Annual Social Enterprise Conference at HBS

Inspiring quotes from giants in social enterprise lined the walls of Spangler, welcoming over 950 individuals to the 5th Annual Social Enterprise Conference. The quotes set the tone for a day filled with opportunities for participants to listen to business and nonprofit leaders, to ask questions, and to learn-all as a precursor to creating positive social change.

This was the first year the African-American Student Union (AASU) sponsored a month long celebration of black history at HBS in honor of the nationally recognized Black History Month (BHM) which is held each February. This year's celebration involved three signature events that highlighted key areas of black history and culminated in the 32nd Annual H.

During the four-day break last month, many students missed the wonderful opportunity to participate in a landmark event just to our north at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. It was there that the second annual Business Sustainability Initiative conference took place on February 27, 2004, which was co-hosted by Tuck and Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering.

Leaving college basketball aside, March is clearly a month of madness at HBS. In the last two weeks, viruses have run rampant within our community. Classroom wireless access has gone haywire. The Boston weather has fluctuated from 65 degrees one day to snow flurries the next.
