The 13th Annual Dynamic Women In Business Conference

The WSA organized the 13th Annual Dynamic Women in Business Conference at the Harvard Business School on January 24th, 2004. This year over 850 women attended the conference, making it one of the largest and best attended events of this type. In addition to current HBS students, participants included HBS alumni, students at Harvard College and other local colleges and business schools, and women in the Boston community.

The Chinese New Year:

The Chinese New Year fell this year on January 22nd. This day is the most important and biggest festival in China and is as important to the Chinese as Christmas is to Christians in the West. It is the first day of the lunar calendar and usually falls somewhere between January 30th and February 20th.

The entrepreneurship program at Harvard Business School (HBS), which has offered courses in entrepreneurship for more than a half century and counts among its 65,000 graduates some of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, won the top award for MBA programs nationwide from the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), an organization devoted to entrepreneurship education and development.

Mr. David Bonderman, the Founding Partner of Texas Pacific Group and an alumni of Harvard Law School, is a keynote speaker at HBS's upcoming 2004 Venture Capital & Private Equity Conference. Despite his demanding schedule, Mr. Bonderman recently took the time to speak with the Harbus in order to share his insight into the private equity industry and to provide some valuable advice for those interested in pursuing a career in this field.

It may be hard to believe, but just a couple of weeks ago students were frolicking in exotic locales such as Brazil, Mount Kilimanjaro (elevation: 19,335.6 ft., or almost 6 miles), the Dominican Republic, and Hawaii. Concentrate intensely and you can still feel the warm sand in your toes and gentle breezes providing welcome relief from the sun.
