He's the student that lives in Fitzpatrick, struggles with laundry, and worries about his business classes. While it may sound like it, he is actually anything but your average Carroll School of Management freshman.

His name is Luke Kuechly, and it just so happens that among the daily routine of every other freshman, he finds time to lead the Boston College football team with 94 tackles.

It was all treats for Boston College Saturday, as the Eagles (6-3) dispatched Central Michigan (7-2), 31-10. The Eagles were able to completely shut down the Chippewas and gain bowl eligibility a week after a devastating loss to Notre Dame.

The game certainly didn't start off pretty for either team.

Speed, fashion sense put Cappucci miles ahead

Caprice Cappucci is a Madonna-obsessed girl with a knack for fashion. She's also currently Emerson's fastest female cross country runner.

Cappucci listens to her iPod on the 20-minute jogs she takes to every practice. And while alternative music and '90s bands make their way onto Cappucci's playlist, her taste is mostly in the Material Girl.

It's time to put on the P.F. Flyers, tighten the belt and put the hat on backwards. Ladies and gentlemen, it's business time. Well, not that business time … what I am trying to say is I will run the table this week. That's right, I will select all 13 games according to early Vegas lines.

I've never been a 'sporty' person.

10/28/09 - The 2009 World Series will have the defending World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies facing the 103-win New York Yankees beginning tonight in the Bronx.

In past years, a "Cinderella"-type team has made a run to the World Series (the 2008 Rays, 2007 Rockies, 2006 Tigers are some examples), but this year the big boys have squashed the feel-good stories.

If there is a limit to how much heartache a group of people can take, the UConn football team is testing it. The last two weeks following the death of Jasper Howard have certainly been among the hardest the Huskies community has faced. One thing that could help would be to get a win; to have lost both games since his passing has been especially difficult.

I've always said that college athletics are like politics. Public perception is the name of the game. Just as politicians live and die on the opinions of voters, the success of athletic departments is dependent on the opinions of 18-year-old high school athletes.
