Every Tuesday afternoon, I work a table for the Husky Energy Action Team (HEAT) at the Student Group Fair for incoming freshmen. Our table is decorated with plenty of give-a-ways to attract students, from stickers to buttons and fliers to T-shirts. But our glow-in-the-dark condoms are the most intriguing.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Let's face it; we are more likely to choose a trip to Cape Town, South Africa, than Darfur, Sudan. A war zone is never a good vacation spot and, after all, who cares if people choose to kill each other? That being said, at least the genocide in Darfur has gotten more attention by the American media lately (Darfur rallies, college divestments and various funds); there are still other countries in similar, if not worse, predicaments that seldom get any American press-places like Uganda.

There is a disconnect between what most people think about environmental change and what some people choose to do. The problem, as we academic sophisticates love to say, seems to be a lack of education. Most people understand that our global environment is changing and that the problem is man-made.
